Zimbabwe President to Launch $40million Sugar Cane Project.

Zimbabwe President, Emmerson Mnangagwa will launch Kilimanjaro, a $40 million Tongaat Hulett sugar cane project in Masvingo Province this weekend.

The project will see giant sugar producer, Tongaat Hulett Zimbabwe, turning over 4000 hectares of virgin land into sugar cane fields.

The Kilimanjaro Project upon completion will see Zimbabwe producing and exporting more sugar. It will also provide at least 2,000 direct jobs and many indirect jobs for the local community.

Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs, Mr Ezra Chadzamira, expressed optimism about the launch of the project citing the creation of more jobs for the province.

“This is a very important moment for us as a province as we will be witnessing the official launch of a project that will give us more jobs, revenue and empowerment to the sons and daughters of Zimbabwe,” Mr Chadzamira said.

The Kilimanjaro sugar expansion initiative has earned Tongaat plaudits as a testament of the firm’s commitment to the development of Zimbabwe.
