Zimbabwe Women Micro-Finance Bank Disburses $4.5 Million For Smart Agriculture

Zimbabwe Women Micro-Finance Bank (ZWMB) has disbursed $4.5 million to 2000 farmers to purchase farming items under the Smart Agriculture program

The program is aimed at empowering local farmers to boost operations and improve national food security.

The Zimbabwean Government partnered with Agribank, The central bank, Stanbic Bank and ZWMB to manage and disburse funds to farmers under Smart Agriculture program

ZWMB head of marketing and public relations, Barbara Muyengwa while speaking with The Sunday Mail revealed that 2,000 farmers had benefited from the $4.5 million released

“As part of its financial inclusion initiatives and the national focus to enhance food security, Zimbabwe Women’s Microfinance Bank is financing farmers on small grains production and we are promoting crops such as sorghum, sunflower, cowpeas, finger millet and rapoko,” Babara said.
