South Africa’s Zozibini Tunzi crowned Miss Universe 2019

Miss South Africa, Zozibini Tunzi has won Miss Universe after beating 89 others to clinch the crown. The pretty lady was crowned Miss Universe on Sunday night after excelling through rounds of swimsuit and evening gown struts, questions cry on social issues and one final chance to explain why she was the right choice.

“I grew up in a world where a woman who looks like me — with kind of skin and my kind of hair — was never considered to be beautiful,” she said in her last response. “I think it is time that that stops today. I want children to look at me and see my face and I want them to see their faces reflected in mine,” she said after being crowned the winner.

26-year-old Miss Zozibini Tunzi describes herself as a “passionate activist” who has engaged in the fight against gender-based violence.

The event was hosted in Tyler Perry’s Gigantic Studio in Atlanta, US and was hosted by Steve Harvey.
