Libya: Tripoli’s Tajura Municipality Launches Waste Management Project

Libya is currently facing a host of challenges including garbage collection. Plans by the central government to see a solution have all proved abortive. In the capital, garbage collection seems a Herculean task.
However, Tripoli’s Tajura Municipality has announced plans to build a waste recycling plant.

The municipality says that the new recycling plant is expected to deal with 80 percent of the waste it receives which will contribute to a greener environment. The plant will also produce ‘‘clean’’ recycled end products, create new jobs and help transfer know-how into Libya.

Apart from the fact storing and heaping garbages in streets and squares are unpleasant for the eyes, it produces offensive smells as well as causing diseases to the people.

The new recycling plant will provide job opportunities for the people of Tajura Municipality and will ensure a safer environment in the region.
