Kuwait pledges further support to Sudan

The Government of Kuwait has pledged further support towards the unity and sovereignty of Sudan.

Speaking on the economic situation In Darfur at the UN Security Council (UNSC) meeting, the Kuwaiti Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Mansour Al-Otaibi, said paramount support is needed to address the current conditions in Sudan, indicating that a good first step would be to lift all sanctions and to remove Khartoum from the list of State sponsors of terrorism.

“This new Sudan needs our support,” Ambassador Al-Otaibi stated. He reiterated that Kuwait alongside members of the UNSC was willing to provide a helping hand to Sudan.

The Ambassador said that comprehensive peace remains a possibility providing there is solidarity and an agreement before Sudanese ask for that.
