EU Releases US$60 Million For Zimbabwe’s Health Sector

The European Union (EU) has donated an extra $60 million to Zimbabwe under its National Indicative Programme in support of Zimbabwe’s health sector.

EU’s ambassador to Zimbabwe, Timo Olkkonen in a statement said, the Eu will provide $43 million to support Zimbabwe’s public health service delivery by strengthening primary care systems, capacitating human resources for health and enhancing community participation.

A further $18 million will be made available to support households and communities in vulnerable situations across the country by increasing their capacities to respond to food and nutrition security shocks.

With the provision of this extra fund, the European Union increases its support to the Zimbabwean to $320 million under the National Indicative Programme for the period 2014-2020.

This assistance comes at a critical time to support the people, who are facing difficult socio-economic times.
